A First Day At Work

The past week was rather carefree since my mid-semester test papers are over but my week ahead look to be a packed week as I start on my new part-time job as an Admin Assistant. I woke up to a really wet morning with the rain pouring outside. I had to go with only 5 hours of sleep as I was working late the night before with some coding improvements for the current version of AnimeArk. Somehow, I managed to drag myself out of bed and head to work at Aljunied which is about slightly over an hour of traveling time for me. I was busy with administrative paperwork until I knocked off at 12.30pm to head to the campus for my afternoon macroeconomics lecture. It was fun and hilarious as always. My lecturer, Sami, never fails to crack me up! Back to my job, the company I will be working for is SAG Components. It is a really small firm, almost one-man show by my boss, I supposed.

I hope the part-time job will not wear me out.

After Catching Up On New Man

Since I started my degree course from last July, I had been busy with school, army, project work and my personal web projects. So much was going on that I have to give up on reading my National Geographic and New Man magazine subscriptions. I finally found a bit of time today to catch up on the back issues. I have the tendency to do things orderly and in sequence so I am back to reading the August 2007 issue when I have received both the September and October issues. As usual, National Geographic stunned me with their usual showcase of awesome photos that I can only dream about taking. Their photos are just too unbelievable. Anyway, I came across something known as Brow Construction on New Man August 2007 and it will cost me S$15. I wonder what it is like to actually go 'define your brows to give your face more strength'. Maybe I will give it a shot when I feel richer. There's also the mention of a certain hairdressing salon whose hair-colour service is getting some rave reviews. Again, I feel like colouring my hair all over again. It's been a while since I have coloured hair.

Moving Beyond Personal

I was bathing earlier and was wondering if I should bring my blog to the next level, a less personal level and more monetized level. I am not sure if I will do that but it seem like a great idea to try that path. I will still be blogging on my life but in addition to that, I will be posting some reviews of websites that I frequent or feel that they will help my friends who are mainly the casual Internet user. Until I can make the decision, The Orinity will remain as my personal blog for the time being.

My girlfriend is having a bad bout of flu and cough so I hope she get well soon. It is always bad to fall sick but I feel that everyone need a short break from the hectic lives we lead.

My Switch To Apple

After so much pondering and fickleness in my choice and selection of a notebook computer, I came back to something that I can only dream about. An Apple Macbook. Yes, I have cast my final decision to go with the mail-in rebate of Apple's Back To School promotion. So, I get my Macbook and also a 8GB iPod Nano 2nd-Gen. The only drawback was that I have to come up with the money for both items before I claim for my mail-in rebate. That's fine since I am being sponsored by my mother. I will return her the rebate when it is being cashed in though.

Here's my Black iPod Nano that arrived on last Friday!

Born Free...

I am officially a free man! After 2 years of National Service, I am back to being a civilian. Khaki asked me how I felt when taking the ferry back from Tekong, I told her that I felt empty. It is not as if I felt extremely happy or upset but I am leaving behind a place that I enlisted, trained and worked for the past 2 years of my lifetime. It is definitely not wasted as many may phrased it. I cherish this newfound freedom but I also remember my days as a recruit, trainee and specialist. Those days were fun too! Good bye Tekong, my island resort for the great 2 years you have given me!

Back to my past week, I have 2 tests next week so I will probably be mugging after clearing up some work I had lingering with my cousin, Jacob. I hope I have some time to work a bit on AnimeArk. I want to try to register for my Google Adsense account using the website.

I don't know what's wrong but my LG Home Theatre System is still not here yet! I am quite disappointed with RewardsLink and their service. I paid for the delivery and installation but why is it not here in my house now? What kind of lousy service is this? Free equals to lousy service? Singapore's service sector is definitely lacking compared to many other countries especially in the lower budget region. My latest and first trip to Raffles City's Thai Express is most probably going to be my last too. I went there for my lunch with my project group. As the usual fussy customer, I am disappointed that I have to pay 10% of service charge and still have to set the table myself. Seriously! Am I paying the 10% extra charge and get no service? The waiter just placed a stack of forks and spoons at the side of our table and went off. Shouldn't he set the table for all of us? Another example of poor service and worse still, it happened at Raffles City, one of Singapore's busy shopping district. What does a man have to do to get better service?

Hard To Believe...

It's rather hard to believe but it is only 4 more days before my ORD. I am like back as a civilian already, I would say. Anyway, right after of my ORD will be 2 tests for me to clear. They will take up around 20-30% of my final grade so I supposed I need to work hard a bit.

I am updating my Picasa Gallery since last night with my photos for this year. If time allows, I will upload the photos for 2004 until 2006 since I only got photos from 2004 onwards. That's the year I actually got my Panasonic camera.

Darl stayed on for this past weekend so I am basically fine with being at home. We met up with AiJia and Helen to pass her the gift that I got from Taiwan. We ate at Soup Restaurant as usual. I seem to always eat there when I am with this two. haha! Anyway, the two girls had another shopping fiasco at The Body Shop again with many purchases. Good thing that my Darl is not a shopaholic. haha! Anyway, I am officially broke like hell... Haiz...

Moving? It's Decided...

I more or less came to the decision to move my blog to my domain at uni.cc. UNI.CC Network is a website that provides people with free domains. At only 5 characters, it is only 1 more character than the cheapest .info domains. Since it is free and short, I think I will move my future blog down this lane. However, the actual moving will take a while to complete since I am also hosting the beta testing of AnimeArk on the website.

This past week saw my first month together with my girlfriend, WeiLing. Darl, thanks for being there for me all this while! The link below leads to my Picasa Web Gallery. Classmates, ex-classmates and friends can go there to dig out any photos that I owe you. =p
